ERICH HOYT
 

Erich Hoyt has been going to sea since 1973, when, as a documentary filmmaker, he met killer whales off the west coast of Canada. His books include Orca: The Whale Called Killer, now in a third edition, and The Earth Dwellers. His articles on wildlife, conservation, science, and environmental issues have appeared in more than 100 magazines and newspapers, including National Geographic, Equinox, The Guardian, and the New York Times. He is a former Thurber Writer-in-Residence and a Vannevar Bush Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and has helped design exhibits at science museums in the United States. Since 1990 he has been a consultant for the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society, writing and speaking on captive dolphins, whale watching, and marine protected areas. He currently lives in Scotland. (Erich Hoyt will be represented at the book signing by Naomi Rose, a contributor to Seasons of the Whale.
