CHARLES "FLIP" NICKLIN
Flip Nicklin was born in San Diego, CA in 1948. He's a 5th generation San Diegan, 3rd generation diver, and 2nd generation underwater photographer to work with the National Geographical Society (NGS). Mr. Nicklin has been the principle photographer on 17 NGS from 1982 to 2001. Twelve of these have been on different species of whales, ranging from narwhals to humpbacks to sperm whales, the others of krill, polar bears, arctic life, seals and marine sanctuaries. His photographs have also been the basis of a variety of books, and articles in international magazines. During this time he also assisted in whales research programs around the world, including working with the PI, Jim Darling, over the last 6 years on the ongoing humpback study in Maui.
